Now Wasco® SkyWindow® skylights are available with high performance hurricane-resistant laminated glass, providing superior safety and security that meets Dade County, IBC/IRC and other stringent state building codes for skylights installed in Wind Zone 3 coastal applications.

Though it looks like ordinary glass, hurricane-resistant glass shields against damage from wind-borne debris, accidental impacts, forced entry, even unwanted noise. It’s made of heat strengthened low-E lites permanently bonded with one or more layers of PET film and durable PVB (polyvinyl butyral) resin sheeting. In exhaustive impact tests, broken glass fragments have adhered to the bonded plastic vinyl interlayer, reducing the risk of injury, shattered glass and breaching the building envelope.

E-Class SkyWindow® skylights are for use with thin roofing materials such as composition, slate or wood shingles and shakes up to 3/4" thick. All require a minimum 3:12 roof pitch. Fixed skylights with hurricane resistant glass are available in 4 standard sizes. Custom-sizes are also available - get a Quote.

Hurricane-resistant glass helps preserve the building envelope, keeping wind, rain, excess air pressure and noise out.

Finish Options

Standard finish for all E-Class and G-Series SkyWindows is bronze enamel. Ten baked enamel designer colors are available for all Architectural Series models, and as optional finishes for E-Class and G-Series models. Colors are shown below, approximated by computer display colors. Copper cladding is available on some units.

Skylights should not be walked upon under any circumstances.
The owner, contractor or designer should restrict access only to authorized personnel who have been adequately cautioned as to the location of the skylights and informed of the warning above or said owner should provide protective guardrails or screens around the skylights.
